To all the lifeguards in their chairs
Giving shade to the foster kids
To the girls with tan-lines
Writing me from their apartment
To all the comedians
And all the open mics
And all the shitty jokes
And shortage of suits
To all the guys with sexy ankles
With their shirts tucked in
And all the college kids
With video cameras
To all the kids in Design 101

There's a man who lives by the ocean
I can't see him but I hear his little beak
Always want to live by the ocean
Maybe there I can get a little sleep
There's a ma'am who lives inside the ocean
I can't hear her but I feel her hold me tight
Always been kinda scared of the ocean
Waves are lappin' in the middle of the night

It's Tough for Some Sons

So, yeah I was hangin' out at that one place I was tellin' you about with that one girl I was tellin' you about, it was pretty cool - there was a pool and a DJ - We're gettin' hammered, ya know, nothin' crazy, when all of the sudden she's like "My place or yours?" "Where do you live?" She says she lives in the sixth borough , and I say, "What's that? Rikers?" "No, no, not Rikers." "Randall's Island?" "No, no, not Randall's." Then she asks me if I like Bill Cosby, and I'm like "No way." And she says, "Well, he ain't got shit on me."
When the days get short they'll only get shorter
When midnight's worth a dime and daylight's worth a quarter
Put the current back in currency to buy us some time
Always, always waiting in line
So after I figure out where I am, I call this dude who calls his dude. We get there around 9, and he shows up about a half-hour later. We're hangin' out, we're listening to old records and shooting the shit, when one of the dudes stands up and he wants to throw down. So I ask him, "yo, why do you wanna throw down?" He just asks, "Do you like R Kelly?" And I say, "No way." He says, "He ain't got piss on me."

Always, always waiting in line

I don't ever have to see you again
I won't ever have to feel you again
I know your fast fading
I know your fast fading
I know your fast fading, but I hope
I know your past faded
I know your past faded
I know your past faded but I hope

She sports a suit that blows right thru my vest
Leaves my heart defective to deflect
All the holopoints they can fire my way
But not those eyes that tell me I should stay
And still she doubts my game
And still the truth remains
I know, I know, I know, you can't rush these things
(They got eyes that shine right through my back door)
She knows, she knows, she knows we can't give it up
(Spending the night above the darkest sky)
What we both know, what we can't show
Hold it so close, hold me so close

Melting through your face-mask
I'm an army that's evicted from the war
Slide up through your hillsides
Give me daughters, let me poison all your sons
Chew right through your hindsight
Spit it up now and we'll go right back for more
Hopscotch, strike a light out,
Cut a line out, burn the moon down to the ground
Leroy - street heathens
Let's go out now, don't forget who we destroy
Blogging from the girls' dorm
Since you left me at the bottom of the hill

Held a million things in my hand
Only one of them was your hand
Dented smile ruin my plans
Knock me down where I stand
I'll eat the sand where it lies
Just to delay goodbyes
Couldn't say I would mind
I could say you would mind
Your looks are for the birds
Your words are chum for the sharks
You make my sweat swell
You make my skin swim

Beach dad,
Belly deep in the ocean
Beach dad,
He don't want no commotion
Beach dad,
All his worries are floatin'
Beach dad,
And his dreams are in motion
There's a man who lives by the ocean
I can't see him but I hear his little beak
Always want to live by the ocean
Maybe there I can get a little sleep
